Photo Event

Retriever Club of Alaska

When: August 13 – 15, 2027 Where: Turnagain Pass, AK

Alaska has been on my list since I first started traveling with Dogs In The Wild, and in 2027 I’m hoping to finally make the trip north.

I’ll be joining the Retriever Club of Alaska at Turnagain Pass, photographing retrievers at work in what promises to be one of the most remarkable landscapes I’ve encountered through my time photographing dogs. Surrounded by mountains and the wild country of southcentral Alaska, this is exactly the kind of place I imagined when Dogs In The Wild began taking me beyond my home grounds in the Northeast.

The trip will also become part of my next Dogs In The Wild book, Vol3, which my goal will be to bring more documentary narratives through journey, the dogs, people, landscapes, and miles traveled along the way.

I’ll be photographing dogs throughout the hunt test, with images available for purchase online following the event. But Alaska will be about more than covering another test. It’s a chance to document retrievers doing what they were bred to do in an extraordinary place, and to tell a little of the story surrounding the photographs.
