Dogs In The Wild

Outdoor Dog Photography by Mike Hosier

We offer two types of personal use licenses, Web-Sharing and Print-Ready. Web-Sharing image files are our standard option, these are perfect for sharing your photos to your favorite social media accounts and sending to family & friends via SMS. Web-Sharing files tend to be about 3,000 pixels at the longest side, landscape or portrait. You can print Web-Sharing photos in smaller formats. For larger prints such as wall art, we offer an upgrade to Print-Ready image files for an additional fee. Print-Ready upgrades are available for individual photos or for packages. Print-Ready files tend to be about 8,000 pixels at the longest side, landscape or portrait. See our price list. Commercial use licenses are required anytime a photo is used for business, or professional promotional purposes for you, your business, or any business. This also means you can not enter your photo into any contest as this also falls into business promotion for the content handler.

I reside in upstate NY. For the listed rate, my dog photography services cover a 50 mile radius from Saratoga Springs, this includes Saratoga, Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Rotterdam, Glens Falls, Lake George, Southern Adirondacks, Cohoes, Gloversville, Glens Falls, and western parts of Vermont and Massachusetts.

Yes, I’ve recently started getting more involved in dog sport events such as field events, retriever hunt tests, dog agility, dock diving and more. Please use the general inquiry form to get in touch to discuss your event.

Yes, I will travel to certain locations for additional fees. To get an estimate, complete the booking form of your choice and indicate your location. Also, be sure to take a look at photo events where you can suggest an event hosted near you.

I have to be able to drive to, and walk no more than a half-mile to the final destination for the location of the shoot. 4WD trails and off-road locations are ok providing access is not extremely technical and beyond the limits of a 4WD SUV. Please be sure you have permission to use the destination before booking your photoshoot.

It’s possible. Both locations would need to be close-by in order to get everything done in the allotted time of 1 hour. An example of this would be you want photos of your dog in a field, but there is also a lake nearby with a dock and you’d like to try getting shots in both places. Ideally in this situation we’d split the shoot using half the time in one location and the remaining time in the other. With these situations it’s very important to consider travel time as once we begin the shoot, travel to the second location is factored into the time-slot.

Yes, absolutely. Water shots and boat shots can be great fun!

Yes. To ensure the timing works out, it’s best to contact me a few weeks ahead of time to make sure I have room in my schedule.

Yes, sunset, sunrise, or blue-hour shoots are possible, but these are considered specialty timing shots. There is an additional $100 for special timing requests if I can accommodate. Just indicate this special timing request when using our booking form.

Yes, dog treats and other fun toys may be part of the photo session to help us get some fun and interesting photos. If your dog has any special food requirements please let us know ahead of time, we also ask that you provide your own treats if your dog has an allergy or other food sensitivities.

Sure thing, just try to keep it to a minimum. Some fund props can be a favorite hat, or flannel, especially when giving as a gift. Props don’t always work out like we’d like too, please keep that in mind.

Adding a second dog generally changes the dynamic of a shoot, multiple dogs typically require more time, especially if you desire images of more than one dog in a single photo, a together shot. For the best result, your dogs should understand basics like sit, and stay, and we recommend your dogs be excersided before your session. See our price list for additional dogs fees.

Post processing and editing take about 1 to 3 weeks depending on my schedule and the time of year. I will discuss timing with you at the time of your engagement.

Once we set our date, time, and location I will email you an invoice that you can pay online. Your invoice must be paid in full 5 days prior to your scheduled photoshoot in order to keep your reserved time-slot. If you are purchasing a gift certificate payment will be expected at the time of the invoice, once the payment has been your received we will generate and email you your gift certificate. We can provide a hard-copy if you desire.

The person receiving the gift will have to contact us to schedule their dogs photoshoot. Gift certificate payments must be paid at the time of the invoice, once the payment has been received we will generate and email you your gift certificate within 24 hours. Yes, I can provide photo prints of any of your dogs images, framed or unframed in various sizes. We discuss on a case by case basis.

I don’t shoot family portrait style photos, I focus primarily on lifestyle, and natural setting photography with your dog as the main subject. At times when it makes sense to do so I may include a person in a photo along with a dog, just keep in mind your dog is our primary focus, if a person is to be included in any of the photos we can discuss on a case by case basis. If I do agree to have a person in any of the shots, these will be more candid style photos.

No. The photos you will receive come with a personal usage license and are not for commercial use or resale, they can’t be made into items for sale either like calendars or posters. If you would like to photograph your dogs to resell, you’d have to purchase a commercial license per image, per usage. We’d discuss this on a case by case basis.
